       Apparatus and Chemicals


Apparatus

One 1 dm flask with rubber stopper. A round bottomed flask looks most impressive, but any shape will do.

One 250 cm beaker.

Measuring cylinders - 25 cm, 100 cm and 250 cm.

Dropping pipette.

Glass rod.

Access to a fume cupboard (optional).



 


Chemicals

The quantities given are sufficient for three demonstrations.

8.5g of silver nitrate (AgNo).

11.2g of potassium hydroxide (KOH).

2.2g of glucose (dextrose).

800 cm of deionised water.

About 30 cm of 880 ammonia solution.

About 100 cm of concentrated nitric acid.
