The World Wide Web

A short guide to using the world wide web.

The world wide web is accessed using computer software (called browsers) which allows you to access data from around the world.

World wide web pages often contain highlighted phrases. If you click on a highlighted phrase, you will move to a new page, which is associated with the phrase.

Data transfer can sometimes be slow, the page you may be looking at could be on a computer thousands of miles away. So if things slow, it is possible to interrupt data transfer, press the button marked Stop, you then go else where. If the pages contain a lot of graphics these can be not loaded by deselecting Auto Load Images under the Options menu.

This website is best viewed using Netscape Navigator, or similar browsers with automatic image loading activated.
